Matthew DeLisa Selected for 2023 ACS BIOT Marvin J. Johnson Award in Microbial and Biochemical Technology

Congratulations to professor Matthew DeLisa for being selected for the 2023 ACS BIOT Marvin J. Johnson Award in Microbial and Biochemical Technology. The award recognizes professor DeLisa as an American Chemical Society (ACS) member having accomplished independent and original research that has an exceptionally significant impact on the field of microbial and biochemical technology.

Matthew DeLisa is the William L. Lewis Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, as well as the Director of the Institute of Biotechnology. Professor DeLisa's research focuses on understanding and controlling the molecular mechanisms underlying protein biogenesis -- folding and assembly, membrane translocation and post-translational modifications -- in the complex environment of a living cell. His contributions to science and engineering include the invention of numerous commercially important technologies for facilitating the discovery, design and manufacturing of human drugs and seminal discoveries in the areas of cellular protein folding and protein translocation.
