Master of Engineering (M.Eng.)

The Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in chemical engineering helps you strengthen your technical and professional skills so you can bring a diverse set of skills and value to industry. Our program's experience-based curriculum focuses on industrial practice, practical skills development, with an immersive project experience that allows students to implement learning in a studio environment. The degree, which is typically completed in one year, allows students to create their own path in the areas of energy economics, data science/artificial intelligence, medical and industrial biotechnology.

Is the M.Eng. in chemical engineering right for me?

If you know you want a career doing hands-on work in chemical and biomolecular engineering, this is the program for you. The M.Eng. is a terminal degree and does not progress toward a doctoral degree—this means that after you graduate, you’ll immediately enter into the workforce and dive into your chemical engineering career with the skills and knowledge to make impactful contributions.

Our program is:

Immersive:

If working in teams, conducting research, and solving problems with an engineer’s toolkit sounds like the right fit for you, you’ll likely find what you’re looking for in our immersive, 1-year M.Eng. program. The immersive project is a team-based project that involves financial analysis and feasibility-driven management skills development.

Flexible.

Course offerings are dynamic based on the ever-changing needs of society and industry. You choose courses that may suit your interest and fit your desired focus area in
energy economics, data science/artificial intelligence, medical and industrial biotechnology.

Practical.

These experiences progress toward practical applications such as addressing current challenges in AI, energy, and process. Our graduates find careers in technology, business, and policy.

Our curriculum consists of:

Technical fundamentals

Students can choose from various focus areas such as energy economics, data science/artificial intelligence, process optimization, and medical and industrial biotechnology. They also have the option to take fundamental courses in business, computer science, or other engineering disciplines offered at Cornell University.
