Managing problems related to blood clotting is a common clinical challenge during pregnancy. This project will create a broadly integrated view of blood clotting behavior in women entering pregnancy via either assisted or natural conception tracking them through the postpartum period. If successful, diagnostic algorithms will emerge that will advance current approaches for monitoring risk in pregnancy. Toward this goal, the Varnerlab will work with clinical and biochemistry researchers at the Larner School of Medicine at the University of Vermont to develop mechanistic and machine learning approaches to predict clotting risk in pregnant women. The award will run for five years.
