CBE alumna, Prof. Qiuming Yu, was recently promoted to Research Full Professor at the University of Washington in the chemical engineering department.

Prof. Yu was awarded a Ph.D. from Cornell in the Clancy group where she worked on rapid solidification in SiGe alloys, both experimentally and computationally. After a post-doc at NASA/JPL, she joined the faculty at U. Washington's chemical engineering department. She is also a former Associate Director of U. Washington's nanofabrication facility.

Her current research focuses on photonics, plasmonic biosensors, and naostructured materials. Both her children are currently Cornell undergraduates.
