Alabi receives the Researcher Starter Grant in Pharmaceutics from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America Foundation
The Research Starter Grant in Pharmaceutics supports scientists who are establishing their academic research careers as independent investigators in biopharmaceutics and pharmaceutical technology. This prestigious early career support awarded by the PhRMA Foundation is a catalyst for young scientists of exceptional promise who have the potential to be innovators in disciplines that are essential to the development of safe and effective medicines.
Chris received this award based on his proposal titled “Modular Bioconjugates for Enhanced Cytoplasmic Delivery”. This proposal is focused on studying and enhancing the cytoplasmic delivery of short interfering RNA (siRNA) therapeutics by engineering a modular bioconjugate-based dual delivery strategy that decouples the requirements of drug uptake from endosomal escape. The knowledge gained from this study will ultimately be leveraged towards the rational design of improved cell-specific therapeutics for the treatment of intractable diseases.
