Study of the Unfolded Protein Response: The cell responds to Cellular Stress by a process termed as Unfolded Protein Response. Cellular stress leads to accumulation of unfolded proteins in the cell which initiates a detailed pathway leading to either cell death of cell cycle arrest. The aim of the project is to understand the detailed protein-protein interactions involved in the process and to make a mathematical model of the same. This shall enable us to identify the weaklings of the system and to design potential targets for therapeutic targets.
Study of Apoptosis: Apoptoses is a type of cell death program that maintains tissue homestasis in multicellular organisms and regulates immune response. Mutations that impair apoptosis, lead to diseases such as autoimmune disorders and cancer. The present project is based on understanding the interactions involved in Apoptosis and to relate it to understanding the interactions involved in Apoptosis and to relate it to the case of Cancer and Tumor studies. The results obtained from the mathematical simulation of the system shall possibly indicate the key regions in the pathway which we can target for therapeutic purposes.
