Adam Fisher and Xiong Wen (David) Lou, senior PhD candidate students in Chemical Engineering, were honored with an Austin Hooey award for outstanding research progress towards their degree. Each presented a seminar to faculty and graduate students in the department: Adam Fisher's talk entitled described his novel research in the laboratory of Matthew DeLisa to create genetic assays in E. coli for in vivo folding analysis and evolution of soluble protein and peptide variants. David Lou's described his very topical research in Lynden Archer's laboratory to design and synthesize hollow nanostructured materials for Li-ion batteries using tin-based anode materials and carbon "nanopainting."
