Lynden Archer, the Marjorie Hart Chair of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, has been named as one of the College of Engineering’s outstanding teachers. Lynden was selected as the winner of the James and Mary Tien Excellence in Teaching Award, the highest award for teaching in the college. He will be recognized at a Teaching Awards Luncheon on Monday, November 3, 2008.
Lynden was nominated for his dedication to teaching undergraduates, with particular reference to his inspiring teaching of two challenging required courses in Fluid Mechanics (ChE 323) and Thermodynamics (ChE 313). He has also taught very effectively in the team-taught senior courses Unit Operations Laboratory (ChE 432) and Process Design (ChE 462).
A gifted teacher, Lynden consistently earns high scores on student evaluations, even in courses that many students acknowledge to be difficult. Archer was also recently appointed to be the co-Director of the new KAUST-CU research center whose focus involves novel materials for sustainable energy sytems.
