Recent Donors

Thanks to our generous donors, we are able to continue to offer a top-class undergraduate program and graduate program, both of which are growing rapidly. We are a key player in the College of Engineering's commitment to excellence, reflected in our top ten status.

We would like to recognize and thank recent corporate and alumni donors below. We are equally grateful to the many donors who wish to remain anonymous.

Corporate Donors
  • Merck - Merck continues to support the research programs of young faculty. This year, Merck is supporting Professor Abe Stroock's research on microfluidic "heat pipes". Merck's financial support played a role in helping Stroock to secure an Office of Naval Research Young Investigator award. Merck is also supporting undergraduate students working on projects related to bioprocess engineering.
  • Intel - Intel continues to provide computer hardware for the graduate computing lab shared by all our M. Eng. and MS/PhD students. Last year, they also provided new equipment for Professor Brad Anton's new research initiative in biomass energy conversion. Intel also supported one of Professor Paulette Clancy's PhD students, Mohit Haran, to spend a summer at Intel's Portland facilities undertaking a number of research projects.
  • Shell - Shell's financial assistance supports research in the area of energy and the environment. Last year, we supported a graduate student investigating gas hydrates as a novel clean energy source.
  • Kodak - A close collaboration between Professor Paul Steen and Dr. Steven Weinstein at Kodak has led to the provision of a graduate fellowship for Matthew Theisen.
  • Applied Materials - Last year marked the beginning of a new relationship between Applied Materials and the School. Applied Materials provided a graduate fellowship for Abhishek Dube, who is working under the guidance of Professor James Engstrom on novel developments in atomic layer deposition. Applied Materials provided over $800,000 to the College for the development and outfitting of an instructional laboratory in nanotechnology to be housed in Duffield Hall.
  • Proctor and Gamble - A long-time supporter and employer of our graduates, Proctor and Gamble began supporting a new initiative last year to provide instructional TA support for a core undergraduate class.
  • Air Products - Air Products has a long history of supporting young faculty in the School. Last year's support was used to fund an incoming student in the School whose research interests are directed towards electronic materials. In addition, Air Products brought five top women executives to Cornell last spring for the first ever "Women's Power Lunch". See the 2004 Olin Hall News for a report on this event.
Alumni Donors

The generosity of our alumni, whether in terms of their valuable time, their advice, or their donations, allows us to continue a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research and to begin new initiatives that enhance the learning experience of our students.

For those who do not wish to remain anonymous, we will soon also be thanking you publicly here. Please return to this page later for an update
